Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet teams claim mock trial gold again

0

Representing the Texas delegation, Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center sent two mock trial teams to this year’s YMCA National Judicial Competition (NJC) in Minneapolis. The teams clinched the title of co-champions and were recognized as the top two mock trial teams in the country. Sanders Law Magnet can now boast of being back-to-back national champions, having won the title in 2022 as well.

The case they argued this year, State of Washington vs. Jace Crisplee, was loosely based on a real prosecution in Michigan, known as the Crumbley Case. Both Law Magnet teams were recognized at the Aug. 24 Dallas ISD Board of Trustees meeting for their hard work and success at NJC.

NJC is an annual competition for high school students in the model judicial components of the YMCA Youth and Government Program—Appellate and Mock Trial. Each Youth and Government state program conducts its own state competition to determine who competes in the nationals.
