More than a thousand magnet school teachers, principals, and administrators have arrived in Dallas for the Magnet Schools of America’s 40th National Conference, hosted by Dallas ISD.

From April 18 to 22, Dallas ISD team members are hosting the weeklong conference. Attendees will be immersed in Dallas ISD’s magnet schools by participating in school tours and will gain valuable information on the state of magnet schools during workshop sessions

“The school tours will allow the conference participants to observe innovative best practices that meet the needs of our diverse population of learners and the amazing talents of our teachers and students,” said Jonica Crowder-Lockwood, executive director of Centralized Enrollment and Magnet Programs.

Magnet Schools of America (MSA) is the national association for magnet and theme-based schools. The association sponsors a national awards program which recognizes top magnet schools in the United States as well as individual award programs including Magnet Principal of the Year, Teacher of the Year, District Administrator of the Year, and MSA Superintendent of the Year Award.

Earlier this year, four Dallas ISD campuses were recognized by MSA. Among the four, three schools won the National Magnet School of Distinction award and one school was named a National Merit School of Excellence.
