The Health and Physical Education (HPE) Department continues to provide opportunities for families to stay physically active. For the 14th consecutive year, HPE will support the annual Oncor Kids Race, set for Saturday, Dec. 10, at City Hall Plaza.

This event provides an opportunity to engage Dallas ISD schools in a community activity developed to promote the importance of physical fitness and daily physical activity.

“We hope that positive experiences like this will promote an acceptance that physical activity can be fun and lead to our Dallas ISD school community recognizing the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle,” said the director of the district’s Health and Physical Education department, Barbara Johnson.

Dallas ISD elementary, middle and high school students are encouraged to participate and can do so free of charge, thanks to Oncor and other event partners.

Dallas ISD, Oncor and the Dallas Mavericks kicked off this year’s efforts in October with a sneaker donation to 40 students at Jill Stone Elementary School. These ongoing community partnerships continue to inspire school-age students to make healthy lifestyle choices and promote good nutrition.
