We are so proud of the hard work and dedication put in by our district teams during last week’s first round of UIL Football Playoffs. Of the nine teams, we now have two Dallas ISD high school football teams – Carter and South Oak Cliff – who have reached the area round of playoffs.

The defending 5A Division II State Champions, the South Oak Cliff Golden Bears, opened this year’s playoffs with a 12-7 victory over Mansfield Summit last Friday to set up a meeting with the Lucas Lovejoy Leopards. That game will be played at the home of the Texas Rangers, Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. at Globe Life Field.

Carter High is gearing up for the area round of the playoffs after their 37-33 victory over Sulphur Springs last Friday in the bi-district round. The Cowboys will face the Lake Worth Bullfrogs on Friday at 7 p.m. in Apogee Stadium at the University of North Texas in Denton.

The winners will advance to the regional semifinals, which will be played on Friday or Saturday, Nov. 25-26.

Congratulations to the Kimball, Lincoln, Madison, Seagoville, W.T. White, Wilmer-Hutchins and Woodrow Wilson football teams on concluding their seasons last week.
