The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced their final list of awardees, which includes four Dallas ISD seniors.
The NMSC, a not-for-profit corporation focused on recognizing and honoring the academically talented students of the United States, announced a group of winners of the 2022 National Merit Scholars on July 11.
The four students are among 7,200 distinguished high school graduates who will receive scholarships for undergraduate study from sponsor colleges.
This year’s competition for National Merit Scholarships began when high school juniors took the 2020 Preliminary SAT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The organization named 16,000 semifinalists nationwide and selected finalists based on scholarship application entrees and SAT / ACT scores.
Officials of each institution selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
