The Dallas ISD Social Studies Department, in collaboration with ECHO Education and EF Explore America, is thrilled to bring travel to our students for the 2022-2023 school year! We believe that visiting landmarks in our own state and across the nation is vital when providing equitable learning experiences.
By providing intentional support and growth opportunities in Social Studies, we know our students will think critically, engage civically, and connect globally.
Opportunities are available for elementary, middle, and high school students!
Through ECHO Education, students in 4th and 7th grade Texas History classes are able to travel to Austin to visit the Texas State Capitol and the Bullock Texas State History Museum. Through EF Explore America, students of United States History in 8th grade or high school are able to travel to Washington, D.C., to visit our nation’s capital. Finally, students in ethnic studies courses, such as African American Studies and Mexican American Studies, are able to travel to Atlanta, Ga., to visit important sites of the Civil Rights movement, or to New York City to visit sites that have impacted the Latin American community in our nation.
Students across the district have already signed up and are heading off on their tours during the 2022-2023 school year! It’s not too late. Join us!
