Join Us to Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

0

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States, and Dallas ISD is proud to celebrate all students, staff, families, and community members who identify as a part of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

A rather broad term, Asian/Pacific encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

To commemorate this month, Dallas ISD will feature video and written profiles highlighting district students, staff, and alumni who are Asian American/Pacific Islander immigrants or descendants, sharing  their stories and experiences on all district social media platforms. The district’s Food & Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) and World Languages department will partner to present Korean International Food & Culture Day on May 12, featuring Korean-inspired cuisine, lesson plans, and hands-on activities.
