At the end of January, 20 schools competed in the Region XII Academic Decathlon. Of those participating campuses, School of Science and Engineering and School for the Talented & Gifted received the highest team points in their respective divisions: medium and small.

Four teams advanced to the Academic Decathlon State Meet in their respective conferences. Advancing schools are the School of Science & Engineering, School for the Talented & Gifted, Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School, and The School of Business Management. The decathletes will compete in the 2022 Academic Decathlon State Meet February 24-27 in Frisco and San Antonio.

With the theme Water: A Most Essential Resource, more than 150 secondary students were tested in several areas including music, art, literature, math, economics, and social science. The top three students in each division will receive medals. The schools’ ranking and scores are in the chart below. Medals will be sent to schools this week.
