More than 800 students from 42 schools competed in the UIL A+ Middle School Hybrid Academic Competition held on December 11. The academic events included in the online competition were calculator applications, chess, dictionary skills, listening, maps-graphs-charts, math, number sense, science and social studies, and spelling. The in-person events were oral reading, ready writing, editorial writing, modern oratory, and impromptu speaking.
Top students will receive ribbons for each event. Ribbons will be sent via district mail.
The top-performing schools from each group are listed in the chart below. The campuses that had the most students ranked first or second on individual tests were identified as top-performing schools.

Several students received a perfect score of 100 on their individual tests. Along with ribbons, students with perfect scores will receive a certificate of excellence from the University Interscholastic League. Those students are included in the chart below.

UIL Academics is one of 13 programs sponsored by the Dallas ISD Student Activities Department. There is no cost for students and schools to participate in these programs ranging from academic competitions to esports and chess tournaments. The department handles all logistics and costs, including registration fees, transportation, meals, incentives, stipends for coaches, and student study materials associated with each program.
