Dallas ISD is home to many of the best elementary and middle schools in Texas, according to a new report from U.S. News and World Report.
The district’s own William B. Travis Academy/Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted is ranked as both the best elementary school and best middle school in Texas. Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy is the sixth best elementary school in the state, and Dallas ISD proudly boasts five of the top 10 middle schools in Texas, according to the report.

This is the first time U.S. News and World Report has released rankings of the best elementary and middle schools in the country. For the report, U.S. News nationally analyzed 102,610 pre-K, elementary and middle schools.
Unlike the high school rankings, there are no national rankings of elementary and middle schools. There are overall state rankings and state rankings broken out by school district. Scoring was almost entirely rooted in students’ performance on mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments, according to U.S. News.
