On their first day of the school year on Aug. 16, North Lake Early College High School welcomed students to its permanent home at the Dallas College North Lake campus.
Since opening in 2019, North Lake has operated at the south campus while its new space was built at the facility located at 5001 N MacArthur Blvd.
North Lake Principal Tristan Lysowski said operating the school inside the new space at Dallas College North Lake Campus will have a big benefit for students.
“This will really give our high schools students the college experience,” Lysowski said. “We are ready to achieve our vision of being a nationally recognized program that follows in the model of excellence achieved by our other standalone early college high schools.”
In addition to the five brand new classrooms, North Lake Early College High School students have access to the college’s clubs and activities, natatorium, fitness center, bookstore and dining hall.
“We are ready for an outstanding school year,” Lysowski said.
Growing P-TECH/ECHS program
North Lake is one of the 26 Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) and Early College High School programs in Dallas ISD. Through these programs, students can choose from a wide variety of career pathways, take college courses and earn up to 60 college credit hours, tuition free, while in high school. All incoming freshmen can apply to enroll in P-TECH/ECHS programs which provide an opportunity for students to earn an associate degree – along with their high school diploma – upon completion.
