ICYMI: North Dallas High School teacher reflects on history of Cinco de Mayo

Daisy Rivera, a U.S. History and Mexican American Studies teacher at North Dallas High School, recently spoke to WFAA about the history of Cinco de Mayo.

Rivera stressed the importance of approaching the holiday with understanding and respect. She explained the history around the battle of Puebla and its importance in United States history. 

Rivera’s Mexican American Studies students decorated the campus for the holiday, and hosted a movie night for students.
