Dallas ISD is honored to celebrate and recognize the hard work of its cafeteria staff. From preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards and navigating student food allergies, to offering service with a smile, Dallas ISD nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate.
To honor their hard work and commitment, Dallas ISD schools will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 7. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by the School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the Lunch Lady graphic novel series.
School Lunch Hero Day provides parents, students, school staff and communities an opportunity to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million American students every school day.
All across the school district, school nutrition professionals will be honored and recognized. Everyone is invited to show support by creating artwork, gratitude cards, or posters and posting them on social media using #DallasISDLunchHero.
Parents and students also have the opportunity to show appreciation by voting for your school cafeteria at www.dallasisd.org/lunchhero; the school with the most votes will be recognized districtwide.
Mark your calendar and help us celebrate the hard work of our school lunch heroes.
