The Thanks-Giving Foundation, One+One Dallas – First United Methodist Church of Dallas, and Faith Forward Dallas at Thanks-Giving Square are working together to serve up gratitude to Dallas ISD teachers.
Serving Up Gratitude, an initiative of The Thanks-Giving Foundation, has been providing nourishment to frontline workers as a thank you for their courageous fight against COVID-19.
“What a debt we owe to you who are charged with educating our young people,” said Kyle Ogden, President and CEO of the Thanksgiving Foundation. “As our hometown heroes, you have adapted to uncertainty and change with such grace and determination.”
Over the past four months, individual meals are being purchased from local restaurants to deliver to teachers, helping provide a small measure of much-needed support for local restaurants.
Teachers and staff at 85 Dallas ISD schools have received lunch from One+One Dallas, totaling more than 7,300 meals. Their end goal is to serve 100 Dallas ISD schools.
One+One Dallas is an initiative connecting faith communities and schools in Dallas ISD in an effort to enhance public education and student life. Founded in 2020 as a ministry of First UMC Dallas, One+One Dallas – part of the North Texas Conference’s larger One+One initiative – includes collaboration with Dallas ISD, Meadows Foundation and Pastors for Texas Children.
