Since December, the state’s front-line workers—including Dallas ISD nurses—have been receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of immunizations (Phase 1A), according to state and county eligibility guidelines. To safeguard district staff, Dallas ISD is working with Dallas County Health and Human Services and Parkland Hospital to secure vaccines for staff who are eligible for vaccination in Phase 1B to include individuals who are 65+ and those affected by serious chronic medical conditions.
The district is working to secure vaccines for staff as they become available starting with employees who meet the Phase 1B conditions. In the coming weeks, these employees will receive instructions to register to receive the COVID-19 shot through the district. As the first vaccines become available, the priority will be to vaccinate campus staff and those who work directly with students.
As an option, employees are reminded they can also check area vaccine availability through Dallas County Health and Human Services and private physicians.
