Report: Dallas ISD is home to eight of the 10 best public high schools in North Texas

The Texas-based nonprofit Children at Risk ranks eight Dallas ISD schools in the Top 10 Best Public High Schools in North Texas. Due to the pandemic, this report focused on the past three years of available data to determine the consistency and resiliency of schools and districts before COVID-19.

The Dallas ISD high schools ranked in the top 10 are:

  • Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School
  • Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College at Mountain View
  • School of Health Professions at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center
  • Dr. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. Early College High School at El Centro College
  • School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center
  • Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet High School
  • Rosie Sorrells School of Education and Social Services at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center
  • School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center

Of of the four schools listed, three Dallas ISD schools were selected as Pandemic Proof High Schools, ranking first, third and fourth:

  • Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College at Mountain View
  • Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy
  • Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy at A. Maceo Smith

Dallas ISD holds the top four spots for the Top 5 Middle Schools in North Texas. 

  • William B. Travis Vanguard Academy for the Academically Talented and Gifted
  • Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School
  • Dallas Environmental Science Academy
  • George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Academy
