Advanced Placement Boot Camp, which is an Advanced Academic Services initiative, was held virtually Aug. 3–5 and boasted attendance of more than 100 AP students.
Representing various campuses, AP students attended daily Zoom sessions to get a jump start in AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, AP English Language, and AP Human Geography courses. The virtual boot camp provided support and resources to Dallas ISD students taking their first Advanced Placement course.
Through the virtual boot camp, students gained exposure to AP-level coursework and skills needed to complete an AP class successfully. Students engaged in experiences that encouraged teamwork, fostered communication, promoted the importance of organization, and strengthened critical reading, writing, also problem-solving ability.
With each session, AP students learned time management, methods for productive studying, and note-taking tips; students also learned various AP Exam requirements.
AP Boot Camp facilitators represented a variety of campuses. They worked diligently to prepare virtual lessons that were beneficial and engaging for the virtual boot campers.
Each AP Boot Camp student received a backpack of school supplies, test prep guides, and a camp T-shirt. AP Calculus students also received a TI-84 Graphing Calculator. Advanced Academic Services offers the supplies to show support for students as they continue putting forth the diligence and hard work required for success in AP courses.
