Dallas ISD Youth and Family Centers this week can help sick students

0
By The Hub on March 16, 2020 News Briefs

Dallas ISD Youth and Family Centers are open this week to serve students for sick care visits. Any student who has symptoms including cough, fever, and/or respiratory issues can be served by the local Youth and Family Center clinic.

Families with a student showing these symptoms are asked to call ahead and book an appointment at a center rather than sit in the waiting room. Trained medical professionals are at the Youth and Family Centers to assist sick students. Families who had a previous appointment this week at a Youth and Family Center for another health-related issue are asked to call the clinic for further instruction.

Youth and Family Centers work like a traditional health provider in that they bill insurance companies for the services and accept Medicaid and CHIP. If a family doesn’t have health insurance, there are other options such a sliding scale fee. Generally, the medical service fees are noticeably less expensive than at a traditional doctors office or hospital. Every Youth and Family Center clinic provides bilingual services.
