Dallas ISD names the 2019-2020 Principals of the Year

Dallas ISD officials announced the winners of the 2019-2020 Principal of the Year award during a special ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum.

The winners are:

  • Elementary: Ida Escobedo, principal of Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School
  • Secondary: Francine Taylor, principal of H. Grady Spruce High School
  • Choice: Nancy Bernardino, principal at Solar Preparatory School for Girls at James B. Bonham
(From left to right) Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, Dallas ISD board member Dan Micciche, Nancy Bernardino, principal at Solar Preparatory School for Girls, Ida Escobedo, principal of Margaret B. Henderson Elementary, Francine Taylor, principal of H. Grady Spruce High, Dallas ISD Chief of School Leadership Stephanie Elizalde, Justin Henry, president of the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees.

For the second year in a row, several school leaders were commended as Master Principals. Fourteen elementary schools principals, five secondary school principals and four choice school principals received awards. These were given based on a measure on the campus growth, achievement and school climate.

School Leadership also recognized the three 2019 National Blue Ribbon School awardees, the Breakthrough and Accomplished campuses and the principals who were most affected by the October storms.
