The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees Thursday night approved a five-year contract extension for Superintendent Michael Hinojosa. His contract will go through 2024.
Hinojosa is a Sunset High School graduate who started his education career in 1979 at Stockard Middle School. He led Dallas ISD as superintendent from 2005–2011, and has served as the district’s leader since returning in 2015.
Under Hinojosa’s leadership, Dallas ISD has dramatically reduced its number of low-performing schools and increased the school choice options for students. Dallas ISD this year earned a “B” rating from the Texas Education Agency with a score of 86.
