College Costs Covered: Seven seniors earn prestigious Gates Scholarships

Seven Dallas ISD students have earned the Gates Scholarship, which is one of the nation’s most prestigious scholarships.

The Gates Scholarship will cover all college-related costs for the four students at the university or college of their choosing. The Gates Scholarship is highly selective and for Pell-Eligible, minority high school seniors. Only 300 seniors nationwide earn the scholarship

The Dallas ISD Gates Scholars are:

  • Victor Nunez: Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School
  • Ana Saucedo: School for the Talented and Gifted
  • Janeth Mendoza: Hillcrest High School
  • Rogelio Mendoz: Skyline High School
  • Ammar Alinur: School of Science and Engineering
  • Timothy Ogunfunmi: School of Science and Engineering
  • Ismael Carreno: School of Business and Management
