More than 600 sixth-graders from 21 middle schools “visited” and represented different countries at the Model United Nations conference.
During the April 30 conference sponsored by the Dallas ISD Social Studies Department, students presented resolutions on the global impact of education. Students also enjoyed guest speakers and performances.
The conference culminated with students “touring the world,” visiting exhibits representing different countries. They sampled food, examined artifacts, and learned about the history of each country. To commemorate their tour, students carried passports and received a unique stamp from each country they visited.
The purpose of the Model UN is to offer students an opportunity to gain substantive knowledge about the cultures and policies of countries around the world.
