Dallas ISD students advance in Law Day contest focused on free speech, free press, and free society

A group of outstanding Dallas ISD students have advanced in a Law Day contest focused on free speech, free press, and free society.

The Dallas Bar Association organized the contest featuring four categories: art posters, essays, photography and editorial. Students at seven Dallas ISD schools submitted a total of 135 entries.

The first place winners have advanced to the State of Texas Bar competition. The top winners in each category are:

Poster Art K-3

1^st Place – Jace Jones, first-grade, Walnut Hill Elementary

Poster Art 3-5

2^nd Place – Nikolas Pacheco, fifth-grade, Casa View Elementary 

Poster Art 6-8

1^st Place – Madison Franklin, eighth-grade, W.H. Atwell Law Academy

2^nd Place – Asia Langley, eighth-grade, W.H. Atwell Law Academy

3^rd Place – Ricardo Yepez, seventh-grade, W.H. Atwell Law Academy

Essay Contest 6-8
