Students from Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School were the fifth group of Dallas ISD middle schools to receive iPads and two years of data service through the Verizon Innovative Learning program.
Verizon’s $9 million commitment – $1.8 million per school – is designed to provide a way for students to do schoolwork on campus and at home using the devices, even if they do not have Internet service in their homes. Students at Atwell, Cary, Lang and Medrano middle schools were the others in this year’s distribution.
Teachers at the schools also receive iPads and comprehensive, ongoing professional development to help them make the most of the technology in their classrooms.
The school’s cheerleaders performed for the group before the iPads were distributed. After receiving their iPads, students and their families could learn about Quintanilla’s many after-school activities, including the Robotics Club.
