The 18th annual Dallas ISD Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Classic was a rousing success, with the event selling out after a record number of teams participated on Oct. 1.
Twice the number of teams that have participated in recent tournaments signed up for the 2018 event. One of the players was former Dallas ISD Superintendent Mike Moses, who presided over the early golf tournaments. This year’s celebrity golfer was former Dallas Stars goaltender and Hockey Hall of Famer Marty Turco, Special Assistant to the President Chairman and President of the Dallas Stars Foundation.
“We are grateful to our sponsors and supporters of this year’s Superintendent’s Golf Classic,” said Tom Hayden, a manager in Dallas ISD’s Strategic Initiatives and External Relations department. “It turned out to be one of our most successful tournaments on record. Because of your generous support, many of our students will receive the gift of higher education.”
In April, 62 Dallas ISD Class of 2018 graduating seniors were each awarded $2,500 scholarships funded through the golf tournament.
Next year’s tournament is set for Sept. 30, 2019, and it is slated to return to the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine.
