Three free events planned to help students prepare for the future

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. invites high school students and parents to register for its College Prep 102 Workshop, a free event featuring information on financial aid, scholarships and college life. It will be held at One Delta Place, 2525 MLK Jr. Blvd., Dallas, 75215 from 1 to 4 p.m., Sat., Feb. 10. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Eventbrite.com. The State Fair of Texas and other area organizations are sponsoring NXT Fest, a student conference featuring a job fair, free financial aid and scholarship workshops, college admissions information, free school supplies, and refreshments. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fair Park, Saturday, Feb. 17. Admission is free, and pre-registration is required at BIGTEX.COM/NXTFEST. Go here to learn more.

United Way is accepting applications for its two-week Future Focus Summer Camp for students in 10th and 11th grades. The camp will include workshops, field trips, opportunities to meet business representatives and explore companies and careers. United Way is accepting applications from interested students from March 30 through April 27 at unitedwaydallas.org/futurefocuscamp.
