The Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program gives Dallas ISD high school juniors and seniors real world experience in a professional field.
The Hub is spotlighting some of these Dallas ISD students participating in the program. Today, meet Stephanie Rosales, a student at Skyline High School who is interning with Dallas ISD’s Post Secondary Success Department.
What is your role as an intern?
My role as an intern is to facilitate the College Access, Naviance, and AVID coordinators. Some of the tasks I do as an intern are to translate during phone calls, make posters, organize, replace ink cartridges, and gather any supplies needed for professional trainings.
What do you hope to accomplish through the internship?
Through my internship I hope to create strong relationships with my employers, to network as much as possible, and to grow as a professional.
What do you hope your career will be after school?
After I graduate high school, I hope to attend a four-year university and major in biology, with a possible minor in education. After that, I hope to attend medical school because I want to become a pediatrician.
What have you learned through the internship?
Through my internship at Dallas ISD, I have learned the value of hard work and determination. I have also learned the importance of being respectful and kind to everyone, no matter their job title. But, most importantly, I’ve learned the work and heart that’s put into every program at Dallas ISD and the “behind the scenes” of events that go on around the district.
