Mayor’s Intern Spotlight: Taylor Griffin

The Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program gives Dallas ISD high school juniors and seniors real world experience in a professional field.

The Hub is spotlighting some of these Dallas ISD students participating in the program. Today, meet Taylor Griffin, a student at Skyline High School who is interning with Dallas ISD’s Summer Learning and Extended Day Services.

What is your role as an intern?

I enter and reconcile 2016-2017 attendance for the Extended Day Learning Department after-school programs to submit to the Evaluation and Assessment Department. I also prepare after-school documents and school binders to complete the process for the Records Management Department, prepare and maintain Excel Spread sheets for office inventory, and accompany the Extended Day Learning Coordinator to conduct summer school sites visits.

What do you hope to accomplish through the internship?

Because this my second year as an intern for Dallas ISD, I honestly wanted to see what else the district has to offer. Learning more about how Dallas ISD functions through the different departments and the roles they play is what I want.

What do you hope your career will be after school?

I still want to be a fashion forecaster, however, just being in the cut-throat fashion marketing industry would be a great experience.

What have you learned through the internship?

I’ve learned that Dallas ISD has plenty of departments that work together to make things at my school and other schools possible. I didn’t know that Dallas ISD handles a lot of issues daily. I no longer complain about most things at my school because I now understand how hard it is to get the little things we have at my high school.
