C.F. Carr Elementary hosted its College and Career Week May 15–19 to encourage students to become lifelong learners.
The weeklong theme this year was “An Education is the Ticket to Your Future.” The week started off with U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey talking to students and giving them an insight into how the government works. Veasey encouraged students to set goals that they want to achieve in life.
There was a theme for each day and, on Wednesday, students wrote about what they dream of becoming and how they will plan to make that dream a reality.
The weeklong festivities concluded on Friday with more than 40 speakers representing the Dallas Fire Rescue, police department, Army, Alcon, and various other fields such as a lawyer, bee keeper, nutrition, and motivational speaker. Also, a group of University of Texas at Arlington students came to present to students.
The C.F. Carr family sends its thanks to Veasey, the speakers, and the volunteers who gave their time to help the students to realize their dreams.
