The Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD) announced the appointment of several executives to district leadership positions.

Former Dallas ISD educator Ivonne Durant has been named the district’s new chief academic officer. Durant previously served in Dallas ISD as a principal, executive director, area superintendent and chief academic officer. Most recently, she served as deputy of Academics and School Leadership in El Paso ISD where she provided guidance in the development of structure and procedures for academic and school leadership departments. Durant, who is highly experienced in school leadership and management, bilingual education and early childhood education, will join the district June 1 to lead the Teaching and Learning Division.

Dallas ISD will welcome Chanette Shaw on July 1 to serve as the district’s new deputy chief of Human Capital Management. Shaw comes to Dallas from the New York City Department of Education’s Division of Teacher Recruitment and Quality where she served as senior director and in other leadership positions with the department over a period of 11 years. Shaw holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from the University of Maryland, a Master of Science in Education from Long Island University, and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from Long Island University. She is relocating to the Dallas area to be closer to family and friends and will transition to her new role fulltime effective July 1.
