After participating in four VEX IQ competitions, the two Winnetka Elementary School robotics teams have a combined total of 13 trophies: The Excellence Award, Team Work Champions, Skills Champion and the Inspire Award.

The four Excellence Awards represent the highest honor given at the VEX IQ competitions. In order to receive it, both teams had to have a quality STEM project, and students presented their projects before a panel of judges. In addition, the teams must display an excellent engineering notebook, have good skills scores in driving and programming, and exhibit teamwork.

The Winnetka teams comprise 23 third- through fifth-graders, and more than half the team members are girls: the Wildbots 224X team and the VexMasters 224W.
