Dallas ISD students led a Nest Foundation forum Dec. 7 that prompted a conversation on finding ways to end child sexual exploitation and trafficking in Texas.

The forum took place at SMU and was composed of policymakers and local experts, including an FBI Special Agent, Dallas County Judge, State Representative, Former Texas State District Judge and Journalism Professor. Students from Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, Skyline High School and Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy led the conversation and facilitated questions for the panelists.

The Nest Foundation is a non-profit working to end sexual exploitation and trafficking in America. They are currently piloting a curriculum in high schools using their film “PLAYGROUND: The Child Sex Trade in America,” which is directed by Libby Spears and produced by George Clooney, Steven Soderbergh, Abby Disney, Arden Wohl and Lauren Embrey.

The Nest curriculum aims to empower youth to take action to safeguard themselves and their peers and to become leaders in their communities on this issue.
