The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) has announced that Dallas ISD’s application for the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations was approved with Recognized Status.
The award to the Dallas ISD Procurement Services Department recognizes the school district’s achievement in implementing best practices in the area of procurement services. Determined by a research committee and TASBO board of directors, TASBO gives the award based on best practices as defined by the Texas Legislature and the purchasing module published by the Texas Education Agency.
TASBO reviewed various procedures and practices including organization, policies and procedures, contract operations, staff training and certification, use of technology, communication and management of co-operative programs, warehousing, among other factors.
The TASBO Award of Merit (AOM) for Purchasing Operations provides recognition to school districts, open-enrollment charter schools and education services centers that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services. Those districts that earn additional points may receive Recognized Status as part of their award. These districts are considered the most innovative in Texas.
Dallas ISD will be recognized at an awards reception Feb. 28 during the 71st TASBO Annual Conference in Austin.
