The Dallas Regional Chamber welcomed business and civic leaders to downtown Dallas at the Sheraton Hotel for the district’s State of Public Education Address.
Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath provided the keynote speech at the event.
“We have to provide a system that is a common public education system that works for all of our young people,” Morath said.
In addition to Morath’s address, the Dallas Regional Chamber hosted a roundtable of educational leaders. The panelists discussed current issues and best practices in public education today. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa joined Desoto ISD Superintendent Dr. David Harris and Yasmin Bhatia, CEO of Uplift Education, on the panel.
The panelists updated the business community on the school year, plans for preparing students for college and career, and important initiatives involving their districts and charter systems.
