Graduating senior class has received more than $104 million in college scholarships

Dallas ISD’s graduating class has reported receiving more than $104 million in college scholarships.

Nearly 3,000 college scholarships have been awarded to 1,066 seniors. More than 7,500 seniors are expected to graduate this year.

Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said the scholarship dollars represent dividends from a worthwhile investment.

“These scholarships are just the first dividends from the countless hours invested in pursuit of academic excellence, an investment that will continue to pay off far into the future,” Hinojosa said. “The total reflects the quality of our graduates and the strong support they have received from teachers, counselors and parents. Both our staff and students deserve congratulations for this impressive accomplishment.”

The scholarship data is self-reported by seniors to their high school counselor or college access advisor. As a result, it’s likely that the amount of offered scholarships exceeds the $104.1 million that has been reported so far.
