MoneyGram, First Book, FC Dallas visit Hogg Elementary to celebrate literacy

Representatives from MoneyGram stopped by Dallas ISD’s James Hogg Elementary on Tuesday, May 3, to present a donation that will help provide books to school libraries across the district.

The $20,000 donation to First Book was exciting, but students were really pumped about meeting two players from the FC Dallas professional soccer team – midfielder Victor Ulloa and goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez.

MoneyGram chairman and CEO Pamela Patsley read the book, “It’s Okay to Be Different” by Todd Parr to students; Ulloa and Gonzalez took turns reading “My Pet Book” by Bob Staake. Then, the players shared some soccer skills with students.

“We are grateful to tag team with three of our wonderful partners in providing educational solutions for the students of James S. Hogg Elementary,” said Tom Hayden of Dallas ISD’s Volunteer and Partnership Services. “This donation of $3,000 to the James S. Hogg library is a true example of strong community partnerships. Thank you, First Book, MoneyGram and FC Dallas for this wonderful donation of talent and resources.”
