Seniors from every Dallas ISD comprehensive and magnet high school will be honored for academic excellence and receive a share of $192,000 in scholarships at the district’s 2016 Superintendent’s Scholarship Reception. The recognition event is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Dr. Emmett J. Conrad High School, 7502 Fair Oaks Ave.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, district trustees and administrators will attend to congratulate the recipients from every district comprehensive high school. Of the recipients, 62 students were selected by their school’s scholarship committee to receive $2500 Superintendent’s Scholarships based on character, academic achievement, and community service.
Three additional seniors will receive $10,000 scholarships funded by a donation from the Sulentic Family Foundation. The recipients are selected from a field of applicants based on academic achievement, letters of recommendation and financial need.
An outstanding student athlete will receive the $5,000 Eric Louis Brown Memorial Scholarship established in honor of a David W. Carter student athlete who died following a football practice.
The superintendent’s scholar with the highest GPA will receive an additional $2,000 scholarship established by the family of the late district Trustee Jose “Joe” May.
