Anne Frank Elementary recently hosted a great family health and wellness event organized by the Physical Education teacher team. An estimated 800-900 people took advantage of the totally free evening.
The indoor portion of this year’s Anne Frank Family Fit Night included nearly 30 exhibitors that included health-based grocery stores, fitness centers, local healthy restaurants, Dallas police and fire community outreach, and others. Photo opportunities with wellness mascots and various games turned up the fun, while booth visitors sampled tasty bites and received prizes and coupons to encourage future healthy habits.
The gymnasium was full of fitness-based activities, student nurses conducted health screenings in the halls, and parents got help registering for GoNoodle in the computer lab.
Outside the building, families were treated to three performances by the fifth-grade Little Kids Rock band. A DJ played kid friendly music and kept the beat going, while two fitness instructors led Zumba and line dances. The Anne Frank garden was open while a master gardener conducted tours. The Dallas Fire-Rescue Safety house, a fire truck, and two Dallas Police squad cars opened their vehicles for tours and pleased kids of all ages.
