In most schools, students, teachers and parents can easily point out the most dedicated, hard-working teachers. They’re the ones who generously share their expertise with colleagues, volunteer to sponsor student clubs and activities and go the extra mile to tutor or provide assistance to students who need extra help.
The Rotary Club of Dallas believes such teachers are the life’s blood of a successful school, which is why the club seeks to honor them through its Service Above Self teacher awards. From now through April 1, the Rotary Club invites educators, students and parents to help recognize outstanding teachers by nominating them for the annual award. The application and more information about the awards are available online at www.dallasrotary.org/teacher-awards.
This is the 17th year for the service organization to recognize teaching excellence with a luncheon and cash awards. Program coordinator Dana DeVance says the club is looking for Dallas Independent School District teachers who “have exhibited true hearts of service to their students, their schools, and the greater Dallas community. It is one of our missions at the Rotary Club of Dallas to honor the excellent educators here in Dallas,” she said. The club will award more than $10,000 in cash awards to finalists at the annual recognition luncheon on Wednesday August 3.
