Searching for a career opportunity where you can make a lasting impact on youth, with the bonus of summers off, winter break and spring break? Consider Dallas ISD and the Compass program.
The Compass Alternative Certification Teacher Academy provides degreed professionals and recent college graduates with a non-traditional avenue to become a teacher in Dallas ISD. With nearly 160,000 students in 228 schools, teaching in the district provides a unique opportunity to make a difference in our community.
The Compass program prepares you to lead a classroom, even if you never have before. Accepted candidates participate in an intensive summer training program followed by a year-long internship leading your own classroom. Personalized coaching and lessons from the district’s top teachers provide the support you need for success. Upon completion, program participants will receive a teaching certificate and a guaranteed offer to teach full-time in a Dallas ISD school.
With over 40% of district students exhibiting limited English proficiency, bilingual teachers are essential. Nearly 90% of Dallas ISD students are classified as economically disadvantaged, and over 95% belong to a minority ethnic group.
Teachers in Dallas ISD can help students overcome their circumstances, and have the rewarding opportunity of shaping the leaders of tomorrow. For more information on the Compass program and to begin an application, visit the Program Application page of the Compass Alternative Certification website.
The first application deadline is Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016.
