The Keys to Success/Las Llaves del Exito is a free one-day college fair for families presented by DCCCD, Dallas ISD and Mountain View College.
The event will provide students with the keys they need to succeed in higher education, including information about how to navigate the system so that they can attend a college or university. The event focuses on students in grades 6–12 and their parents.
A screening of the documentary “First Generation” will be shown at 10:30 am at the Performance Hall. The award-winning documentary, narrated by Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, tells the story of four high school students — an inner city athlete, a small town waitress, a Samoan warrior dancer and the daughter of migrant field workers — who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education.
Las Llaves is a free event open to the public. Free breakfast will be served. Attendees can register at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/las-llaves-del-exitokeys-to-success-tickets-18716619914
The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30p.m. at Mountain View College, 4849 W. Illinois Avenue, Dallas, TX 75211.
