W.H. Adamson Band Director Chris Green got the surprise of his life last month when the school gathered for a top-secret assembly during which Green learned he was a finalist for the Farmers Insurance Thank Americas Teachers grant where he could win $100,000.
The band program at Adamson has grown from having 12 students to more than 200 in the past five years. The grant would purchase band equipment so that every student has an instrument to play. In the contest, Green submitted a proposal, which landed him in the finals among 15 other teachers across the country vying for the same chance to win.
