Graduation season is happening May 29–June 7, and in honor of Dallas ISD graduates, The Hub is spotlighting a different senior each day as the Class of 2015 takes their anticipated walk across the stage.
Today we spotlight Tafari Witter at Lincoln High School.
Awards/honors, involvement: Valedictorian, 1st Team All-District (basketball), A Honor Roll, featured in the Dallas Morning News and CW33 Class Act
The biggest lesson I’ve learned in school: Balancing time management and responsibility are the biggest lessons I’ve learned this year because I was involved in so many activities and had to learn how to balance my time to enable me to participate in all of the activities.
The teacher who inspired me the most: Each of my teachers and even the teachers I did not have in class played a vital role in my development. Therefore, I can’t select just one teacher. Lincoln High School teachers and administrators have all taught me great lessons that have inspired me to want to do great things in life.
Who/what motivates me: My family, friends, teachers, and everyone else who support me are my motivation. My fear of disappointing everyone who believes in me gives me the drive to do better. In terms of what I use as motivation, I’ll have to say living with Sickle Cell. I want to be able to show, even through hard times, I can still persevere.
What’s next: I will attend TCU and major in business management. My main goal is to become an entrepreneur and provide for my family, but I also want to become a motivational speaker for youth and even adults to help them realize that the difficult days will only make your success even sweeter.
