The three victors in the May Dallas ISD Board of Trustee elections were sworn into office and new officers were elected during the board’s regular meeting on Thursday night.

District 3 Trustee Dan Micciche (Northeast Dallas) and District 9 Trustee Bernadette Nutall (South Dallas) were sworn in to serve new three year terms and Edwin Flores, who previously served from 2005-12 as the trustee for District 1 (North Dallas), took the oath of office again to begin a new term. Flores replaces Elizabeth Jones, who chose not to seek re-election.

Following the swearing in of trustees, new officers were elected. Eric Cowan of District 7 (Oak Cliff) was affirmed by acclimation as Board President, a role he previously held from 2013-2014. Cowan has served on the board since 2010.

Miguel Solis of District 8 (Love Field, West Dallas), was elected first vice president. Lew Blackburn of District 5 (East Oak Cliff, Wilmer-Hutchins) was elected as second vice president and Nancy Bingham of District 4 (Pleasant Grove, Seagoville) was elected board secretary.
