The Dallas Independent School District’s fourth annual STAAR Live Forum, in which academic content area and testing experts will answer call-in and e-mail questions from parents, will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015. Parents will be able to call in to (972) 925-3123 or e-mail their questions to STAAR@dallasisd.org during the forum to have them answered live by the panel of experts.
The forum will be broadcast live from the Dallas Schools Television studio and can be seen by tuning in to the Dallas ISD Cable Channel 98 on Time Warner Cable System or Dallas ISD 98 on the Dallas City News section of AT&T Uverse. The forum will be streamed live through the district’s Web page at www.dallasisd.org/liveforum. The Office of Family and Community Engagement also worked with 36 schools across the district to organize live forum viewing events for parents at the campuses.

The topics discussed during the forum will range from changes that affect this year’s administration of STAAR to what parents can do to help their children succeed in the exams.
“Parents are our partners in ensuring that students are successful in the STAAR and their education in general, so our mission is to provide parents as much information and as many tools as they need to help and guide their children,” said Dallas ISD Deputy Superintendent Ann Smisko. “The live forum and the PREP U All-STAAR week workshops are just some of the tools the Dallas ISD offers parents to enhance that successful partnership for the benefit of the students.”
Information about the 2015 administration of the STAAR test and other resources can be found on the district’s STAAR page website.
