Changes to Human Capital Management leadership

By News and Information on January 29, 2015 Headlines

The following is a statement from Mike Miles, superintendent of the Dallas Independent School District:

“Today I accepted the resignation of Carmen Darville, Chief of Human Capital Management.

Both Carmen and I are in agreement that some instant messages exchanged between her and members of her staff were inappropriate. As the head of the division that oversees all personnel functions, she recognizes it as an error in judgment.

Because we are an educational institution, we seek to maintain the highest standards of professionalism for our staff.  Going forward, we will use this opportunity to grow as an organization by reviewing our standards of conduct and reinforcing our high expectations of professionalism in all forms of communication among staff.

The messages in question do not negate the tremendous positive impact that Carmen and her team have had on this school district. Under Carmen’s leadership, the Human Capital Management (HCM) Division made tremendous progress. During her tenure, the district put in place systems and practices that position Dallas ISD to be a leader in recruiting, retaining and supporting quality staff. Earlier this month, she and her staff led the Distinguished Teacher Review process resulting in more than 94% of those eligible to apply for the opportunity to be paid the highest teacher salaries at the start of the next school year through the Teacher Excellence Initiative.

Therefore, it is with deep regret that I accept her resignation. I wish her all the best and thank her for her service to the students and staff of the school district.”
