During the third “Winner’s Circle Celebration,” Dallas ISD recognized outstanding teachers and campus leaders districtwide through the Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year awards.  This year’s 15 TOY and seven POY finalists reflect a diversity of backgrounds and experience, representing all nine trustee districts. From these groups, the elementary, secondary, and choice/magnet Teachers and Principals of the Year will be announced on May 6 at the 2024-2025 State of the District event. Dallas ISD is joining school districts across the state to form a high school girls flag football league. “My only regret is that they did not have girls flag football when I was growing up in Laredo. I was pretty good at ballet, but I bet I would have been even better at quarterback,” said Superintendent Stephanie S. Dallas ISD students are invited to enter the 2025 Black History Month Art Contest, hosted by the Dallas Mavericks. Now accepting submissions, the art contest is open to eighth through 12th grade students across north Texas. To enter, students must submit a visual medium representing Black history and growth of representation of Black culture in the arts through different eras of time.  Five winners will be chosen, and each will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. with a guardian to visit renowned African American museums. Students planning to attend college for the 2025–2026 academic year must submit their FAFSA/TASFA applications by the priority deadline on Saturday, Feb. 15.  These applications help colleges determine financial aid eligibility and are required for some scholarship opportunities. Following Texas Education Agency graduation requirements, all seniors must complete a FAFSA/TASFA application or sign an opt-out form to graduate.
