A total of 21 Dallas ISD high school mock trial teams competed during the recent virtual Dallas Regional Mock Trial competition held on Jan. 15-16. Winning first place was the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet mock trial team. Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts placed second and third place went to the White Rock Mock Trial Team – a combination team consisting of students from Skyline and Bryan Adams High Schools. These three talented teams will represent Dallas ISD at the virtual state contest on March 4-6

Counseling Services, Post-Secondary Partnerships and Programs, and Dallas School Administrators Association will collaboratively host Dallas ISD’s FAFSA Day on Feb. 17. Three webinar sessions will be held throughout the day in English and Spanish and Seniors and their parents are welcome to attend this virtual event. Participants will understand what is FAFSA/TASFA and be able to receive assistance from an advisor in completing the application. In addition, Dallas ISD seniors will have an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Dallas School Administrators Association. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Dallas ISD Teen School Board held its first community service project of the 2020-2021 school year. The goal of the project, led by Teen School Board Community Service Chair Ethan Tolentino, was to create desks for underserved students throughout Dallas ISD. The event took place at the Career Institute North facility, as teachers, administrators, and other staff joined in with the Teen School Board representatives to lend a helping hand.  For many of the student volunteers, this was their first experience working in carpentry, and it afforded them the opportunity to learn how to use…

More than 110 Dallas ISD student-athletes formally announced their college selections during the Annual National Signing Day on Feb. 3. The event recognized and introduced all Dallas ISD senior student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent for a collegiate sport. This includes sports such as basketball, baseball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling.
