NFL Play Football and New Era Cap Co. donated $10,000 to the Sunset High School football program! Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb surprised the football program with the news during a March 8 Zoom call. The America’s Language Working Group recognized Walnut Hill Elementary for their exceptional language-learning programs. The school teaches Mandarin Chinese to all their students and offers programs to develop bilingualism and biliteracy in English and in Spanish. Parents of students at Franklin D. Roosevelt and O.W. Holmes Classical Academy are urged to attend a virtual parent meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, to discuss plans to relocate Roosevelt students to the Holmes campus to safeguard students and facilitate construction on the Roosevelt campus. Building crews are at work on a $61.7 million renovation at Roosevelt, with the goal of substantially completing the work in time for students to occupy the building next August. T.G. Terry, Adelle Turner and Martin Weiss elementary schools are considering adopting an alternative calendar to help ensure students don’t fall too far behind because of the pandemic. They are among the 42 Dallas ISD schools considering adopting an “intersession” calendar, which would extend the school year to start at the beginning of August and end in late June.
