Today we launch the new Dallas Reads website. Throughout the year we will be celebrating reading and asking you, “what are you reading?” Take a look at some fun a few of our students had celebrating literacy!
The Dallas Independent School District made several staff changes Friday, October 10 at Billy Earl Dade Middle School that will go into effect Monday, October 13. The changes are designed to improve the effectiveness of classroom instruction as quickly as possible. Ms. Margarita Garcia, currently the principal at James S. Hogg Elementary School, will be taking over as principal of Dade Middle School. She will be joined by two assistant principals from other campuses as well as 10 instructional coaches from throughout the school district who will serve as teachers. A week and a half after learning five Dallas Independent School District students had possibly been in contact with the first confirmed case of Ebola in the United States, the district continues to carefully monitor the situation. At this time, all five students have no signs or symptoms of the virus. They remain home from school as they complete their 21-day home stay directed by Dallas County Health and Human Services. They continue to be served through the district’s Hospital/Homebound program to ensure they are receiving academic support during their prolonged absence.
